Some 300 kms North from the dunes and the heat of Merzouga, we are back into the Haut Atlas and the thermometer drops sharply (8C!).  Azrou and Ifrane remind us of the Alps.  This is where the goods and the greats of Morocco (including the King) come to escape the summer heat in the plain. In many respects it feels more like Switzerland than Africa but despite the chilly climate, we spend a couple of days touring the lovely forests of oak and cedar trees before resuming the journey North.

 

A quelque 300 kms au nord des dunes de Merzouga on se retrouve dans le Haut Atlas et le thermometre est en chute libre: 8 degre !  Azrou et Ifrane nous rappellent beaucoup les Alpes.  C’est ici que le gratin du Maroc vient pour fuir la chaleur etouffante de l’ete - le roi du Maroc y a meme une residence.  Malgre la fraicheur - nous n’avons pas de vetements chauds, nous passons deux jours a profiter des forets de chenes et de cedres avant de reprendre la route.
